Accredited Investors

Accredited investor is a regulatory classification. In the US it is generally met through income thresholds, net worth excluding a primary residence, or certain professional credentials. Other jurisdictions use different definitions and terminology.

Accreditation determines which offerings you are permitted to participate in. Many private rounds are limited to accredited investors under the exemption they rely on.

Accreditation is a legal status, not a measure of skill. It says nothing about whether a person understands private markets, and it confers no protection against loss.
